Because I've been kind of neglecting her.. D:

They say a picture's worth a thousand words. But can a picture really say that much about a person? Take this picture for example: you see a girl. But can you really tell what kind of person she is? The smirk and expression reveals that she's a mischievous and happy person, if not somewhat childish. The shirt says that maybe, just maybe she's got a punk side, although it seems to stop at the style. Simple jeans and shoes say she's a laid back, mellow girl.

So the picture does tell a lot about her. But there's much more to be known about Marissa Misawa. The fact that, beneath the childish nature, is an almost genius mind, comparable to her older brother. Why isn't she more mature for her age? Well, she once said "Being mature is no fun. I've got four more years before I'm declared an adult, so why not have some fun?" Wise words from such a young girl. Well not really. According to her brother, she usually has nothing real to say. "It's usually some odd observation or question. But usually it's just a sarcastic remark." Her older brother Bastion said.

It's what she's good at, Bastion. That and writing. Marissa is, how you say, obsessed with writing. She often makes odd comparisons to literary terms, and is constantly thinking of new story ideas. But you wouldn't know that from a picture, eh?

Of course, she does other things too. She plays keyboard and Tenor Sax to keep herself amused. Marissa also plays basketball to keep in shape.

An odd girl as described by most, her family isn't much better. Her younger twin brothers and older brother are equally smart and strange, giving her an impossible time. It isn't all bad though. She knows how to fool proof her room. And she has amazing gadgets built by her younger brothers.

Growing up with both parents, Marissa lived a pretty happy life. But there was something missing, a void in her life: acceptance. Something that her small hometown couldn't fill. But when she heard Bastion was heading off to Duel Academy, Marissa finally found the solution to her problem. However, due to a "disruption from her past" Marissa arrived a few days late.

Immediately joining the academy, Marissa made an enemy: Chazz Princeton. His arrogant and rich snob attitude clashed with her horribly, and from then on, they couldn't be in a room together for two minutes without arguing.

However, she also made friends with Jaden and the gang, thanks to Bastion. She particularly became good friends with Syrus and-the year after this one- Aster and Hassleberry.

Towards the end of year one, she met a young boy named Atticus in the hospital after recovering from a nasty flu bug( leave it to her to catch a cold). Perhaps this boy could help her cut loose some more and help fill the void in her life, in more ways than one... Upon becoming friends with Atticus, her friendship with Alexis strengthened as well.

Of course, little did she know at that point, but as the years would go on, she would make new friends with a girl named Blair, and a boy named Jim. But she would also have another clash with a boy named Adrian.

But, there's one more thing you should know about Marissa. It isn't all smiles with her, there's more darkness to her than meets the eye, and I'm not talking about the deviousness. Of course, only one boy has had enough observational skills to figure out what. Marissa guards that secret with her heart and soul.
